More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Snow surface remains a mix of shallow unconsolidated snow and barely covered ground obstacles in sheltered lower elevation areas. Higher elevation areas have scoured surfaces where the slopes were exposed to NE winds and stiff slabs where the snow surface was more sheltered. Oct. 19th facet layer still exists in this area beneath some of those stiff slabs. A widespread breakable rain crust existed up to 9000'.
