More detailed information about the snowpack:

Overnight cloud cover in this area may have impeded snow surface refreeze compared to the night before.  Even so, snow surface was supportable and provided good corn snow on SE-S aspects at 11:30am.  Cloud cover this morning and moderate NE winds delayed softening of the snow surface slightly into the late morning/mid day hours.  Snow coverage has deteriorated in this area with marginal conditions on many south aspects and terrain below 8500'.

Photo#1:  8200' at 12 noon, south aspect.  3'' of moist snow on top of an 8'' thick knife hard melt freeze crust.

Photo#2:  8700', south aspect @ 1pm.  Boot pen 5cm with good supportable conditions.
