Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Our level two avalcnche course set out in search of the 1/5 buried surface hoar.  We dug two pits the first being just below the summit of Judah peak approximatly where the pin on the map is.  The second pit location was approximatly 100 yards below the summit of Donner Peak on a NE aspect.  In both of these pit location there was no sign of the 1/5 buried surface hoar layer.  The 1/9 surface hoar layer was present in both pits.  Compression test for the Judah pit were CTE 4 Q3 on the 1/9 buried surface hoar 7cm from the surface and CTE 3 Q3 on the 1/9 buried surface hoar 7cm from the surface.  Compression test result from the donner pit was CTE 7 Q3 on the 1/9 buried surface hoar 10cm from the surface.
