More detailed information about the snowpack:

5-6'' of new storm snow at the trailhead at 9:15am with a total of 8'' by early afternoon.  Very little evidence of previous wind transport in this area with light winds through the morning and into early afternoon.  Minor localized cracking in wind loaded terrain off of the East Ridge but no slab formation was observed.  Loose dry sloughs were running in steeper terrain (>35 degrees) on all N-NE-E aspects.  Below the new storm snow is a firm melt freeze crust on all aspects and elevations that can be felt while skiing.  The new snow is available for transport if wind speeds do increase tonight or tomorrow.
