Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack: 

No evidence of instability observed while on tour in this area. Snowpit dug in lower angle terrain adjacent to steeper avalanche path (photo) on N aspect at 8,400' indicated that old basal facets and near surface facets had rounded and gained strength. Hard wind slab in the upper portion of the snowpack was well bonded to the layer(s) below.

Snow surface conditions consisted of wet melt-freeze snow in sun exposed areas, cold supportable unconsolidated conditions on shaded N aspects and thin breakable surface crust on areas in between.
