Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Near surface facets exist at the snow surface in this area, but were not nearly as well developed as those observed yesterday in the Donner Summit area. A slab still exists in this area on top of the Dec 7 facet layer, but strength gains in the weak layer have occurred. Propagation tests in this area indicate that propagation along the weak layer remains possible, but that triggering is unlikely at this time. The Dec 7 weak layer is now in essence dormant in this area. The race is on to see if significant structural changes to the weak layer or significant new snow loading occur first.
