More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Overall snowpack is shallow and cold and made up of mostly faceted grains and thin crusts.  Average snowpack depth in shaded areas above 9000' is around 2' deep.  Little results from snowpack tests at the area visited today.  Snow surface conditions range from soft unconsolidated snow in protected shaded areas and firm suportable and breakable crusts.
