More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Test pit and other observations were similar to recent obs from around the forecast area.

Pit at 8800', N aspect, 20 degree slope, sparse trees. Ski pen about 25 cm, Boot pen nearly to the ground!

HS 75, 30cm of new snow Fist hard, a 5 cm thick breakable rain crust, with 40 cm of rain soaked facets 4F-F to the ground (F at ground). 

ECTP 13 SC Q1 failed right below the rain crust.

We felt several minor whumphs, and saw cracks in the storm snow. We stayed on low angle terrain!
