Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Melt freeze crust just 3 cm thick, 1F hard formed on solar aspects in this area last night. Upon embarking from the trailhead at 9:45am, 1cm of melt forms existed on the snow surface in sun exposed areas at 8,650'. Conditions at that time were skier supportable. Upon reaching the snowpit location at 10:40am (E aspect, 9,760') conditions were marginally skier supportable with wet snow boot penetration of 30 cm (photo). Upon descending from the snowpit location at 11am, skier triggered roller balls 15 to 30cm in diameter were triggered off of turns with conditions still marginally skier supportable and degrading rapidly.
