More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Fresh cornices continue be sensitive to triggering in the Donner Summit area. This particular cornice fractured into the older layer underneath, approx 4 feet deep, and partly slid down slope. With numerous cornices dropped onto slopes in the area, there were no signs of slab propagation on the slopes below.
