Variably Dense wind slabs on chickadee Ridge

Wind slabs exist on all aspects and all elevations in some form across Chickadee Ridge and eastward.  At upper elevations wind slabs are starting to support travel with no penetration while on sheltered slopes wind slabs were soft and up to 16" deep breaking trail on slopes.  In spots there is still 20+" of soft snow under the wind compressed layers of the surface and the skiing was variable.  Much settlement happened yesterday across the forested zones with 6 inches of snow separation on tree cones. Snow is dense and not cracking or whumpfing but obvious wind slabs exist across the terrain. A short steep test slope produced a 6 inch deep wind slab 6 feet across. No other signs of instability observed in the snow pack. Weather was snowing on and off and the wind was moving snow.
