Anderson Ridge

warm temps and calm winds in the morning quickly changed to cooler temps and strong, stop you in your tracks winds on a quick tour through anderson ridge sidecountry this morning.

extensive wind scouring of old snow surface with a heavy layer of pine needles and debris on the snow surface in the trees.  

despite the high winds not much snow was seen transporting over the ridge tops in our area, although we could see plumes to the south over anderson peak.

swirling snow beneath the ridge was loading laterally on upper slopes.  wind loading was thin soft and not particularly reactive at 10:30am.  

below the ridge snow was soft and wind affected on northerly aspects, with an icy wind crust on anything with southerly exposure.  soft snow still remained in sheltered north facing areas.
