Windslab activity in Shirley Canyon

The SW winds were quite apparent on our tour today. Big plumes of blowing snow, scouring on exposed terrain and obvious wind loading were easily observed. Test and ski cuts produced easy failures and small avalanches reliably in loaded terrain. These slabs were pencil hard, sitting on top of fist hard snow and was predominately 8-12" thick, although ranged up to 2' in places.  This hazard was found throughout the zone, but was relatively easy to manage.
