Light dusting and wind at Blue Lakes

Better riding conditions than expected today at Blue Lakes. Faceting observed in the upper snowpack, and some early stage faceting weakening the melt forms at the base of the snowpack.

Pic 1: Where the 12/24 crust was exposed, it was weak and provided a good riding surface. Where it was buried, it was supportable to skis and track during mellow riding, but would break under aggressive riding.

Pic 2: A very light dusting of new snow plus wind was filling-in gullies, in some places up to a foot deep. Wind transported snow remained soft without slab characteristics yet.

Profile: Cold, shallow snowpack is faceting, but remains supportable for snowmobiling.
