Avalanche on Peavine

A group of 4 of us were planning on skinning up Peavine from Peavine Road starting above 6000 ft, heading cross country and uphill towards the towers on the eastern aspect. We ran into some friends unloading some snow machines. They offered to tow us up top along the road and we agreed, excited to get in a free lap. Once we were below the towers on there north side, we found 50 mph winds, white out conditions, and scoured snow. Knowing the two peaks would be corniced and steeper, we skied the lower angled saddle on the north side heading northeast, intending on traversing back to the east once below the peaks. Mixed surface conditions turned into soft wind loaded snow, at this point still low angle. We proceeded with caution, but the skiers right traverse over to the treed bowl was blocked by a steep down-sloped ridge with cornices. Skiing to the northeast further, the terrain rolled over, and intentionally bouncing during a traverse triggered an unexpectedly large avalanche. After some discussion, we skied the bed surface down to a wind scoured aspect, and then made the traverse back towards the road at a lower elevation with less wind loading and more anchors.
