Reactive Wind Slabs and Cornices on Mt. Judah

Near the Sierra Crest above 7500' this morning was snowing with snow transport in exposed areas and limited visibility.  The upper snowpack in wind protected areas had a density change that showed some cracking from warming during the storm with upside down snow conditions.  In wind exposed areas we found wind slabs stacked on top of wind slabs that were 1 to 2+ feet deep and reactive with ECTP's in wind loaded terrain.  On test slopes, wind slabs were stubborn and cracked larger than expected in areas.  Cornices were reactive and built out from the recent storm with high winds.  Rain runnels were observed on the drive back below 6500'.
