Wind slab slide on East face of Judah Peak

We skied on the East face of Judah Peak today. While assessing conditions at the top of Judah Peak, we kicked off an oven sized cornice that started a wind slab avalanche. The crown ranged from 4-12 inches deep, was 70 feet wide, the flanks of the crown extended down the slope 30-40 feet and it ran about 400 vertical feet. We then skied a more southerly aspect to the skiers left of the slide which was less wide effected. We also watched a party of two ski just to the right of the slide later in the day, entering the slope from a less steep section, and they did not trigger any other  avalanche activity. 

Before kicking at the cornice, we made sure no other parties were below us. We also debriefed the cornice collapse and slide as a group and decided that the actual kicking of the cornice was the most dangerous parts of the day. When the cornice collapsed it did so uncomfortably close to all three of us. In hindsight, belaying the cornice kicker, having only one person near the edge at a time, or simply not messing around with cornices would have all made us safer today.
