wind slab and loose wet on Castle Peak

We toured up to Castle Peak this morning. In the NW trees near the summit, we kicked at a wind loaded test slope which broke fairly easily. The propagation was only ~7 feet, see photo, but still wind slabs were something we kept in mind for the rest of the tour. The snow in the N bowl below the summit was less wind effected so we skied there. ~5 inches of fairly soft snow existed in most areas except where the wind had scoured it away. Skiing in the morning was overall quite good until the sun came out and warmed things up. We started several loose wet/dry to increasingly wet sloughs throughout the day. Most of which moved markedly slow and ran less than 50 feet. By 3pm the new snow had become significantly heavier so we called it a day.
