Snowpit from Tahoma - Lake Level

Snowpit was dug at 15:45 in Tahoma, CA at 6,300ft. The area was shielded by trees and has not recieved substantial wind loading in the last storm cycle, where all of the lake level snowpack is from. Unlike other observations from higher elevations, there was no faceted layer at the bottom of the snowpack from the small snowfall of November 20. 

Four distinct layers were observed. The first layer was 3cm of F-, very loose, dry powder. Barely any resistance was met with the fist test. The second layer down was 4cm of 4F, slightly more consolidated snow. The third layer down was 9.5cm of 1F+, more consolidated snow. The bottom layer was 11.5cm of P- snow. Overall, the snowpack is quite strong so far. 

The stability test that was used was the compression test. The test yielded a CT22, Q2 @ 11.4cm. The layer that failed was the third layer down.
