Wind transport on Stevens Peak

Below freezing temps and moderate W-NW wind, with blowing snow loading E-SE slopes and signs of previous wind loading on NW slopes. Scouring and variable snow depths on both sides of the ridgelines, with several zones of sastrugi and exposed ice as well as rimed trees. There was an icy crust below about 6"-9" of snow as high as 9600 and a mix of wind-effected snow and sheltered snow. Snow depths were variable on micro-aspects with coverage becoming questionable at some higher elevation spots, but with coverage still very good lower on the mountain. Looking over towards Crater Lake/Red Lake peak, there was a recent natural slab avalanche on a N/NE facing slope, mid-slope.
