Incline Lake Peak

15 cms (6") of new snow fell with the latest system at our pit location at 9100 ft, with our pit HS 155cm. Winds were forecast to be very high SW winds, but the wind was calm during our tour. Pit resulted in ECTN 28 with a non-planar fracture at the new snow/old snow interface, 140cm from the ground. A wet layer was at the base of the new storm snow and we assume that it rained at least as high as 9100 ft before turning into snow during the 12/12 storm. Shovel shear test revealed a very stubborn, cohesive block which demonstrated a resistant planar fracture on a thin layer above a crust 95cm from the ground (60 cm from the snow surface). We observed no wind slab or storm slab instabilities but did encounter dry loose on a steep NE facing slope below treeline.
