Wet conditions on Galena Peak

Leaving the car and skinning to top of Fireplug, winds were gusty and it varied between a light sleet and rain. Snow on N-facing descent was unconsolidated and wet (manky mashed potatoes), it was easy to get big rollerballs going on small rollovers. From a few quick hand pits, seemed like the top 1-2" of the snowpack was saturated (with drier, unconsolidated (fist) wintry snow underneath) on N and NE facing slopes at and below treeline. Saw lots of pinwheels on the skin back to the car.
