Observation
Description of Snow, Weather, and Avalanche Conditions:

We skied on Jakes Peak this morning. Halfway up the second pitch we dug a snow pit and conducted an extended column test. This test failed, ECTP22, on the faceted crust layer. Near the top there was less evidence of wind transport, scouring or wind slabs, than expected. Kicking at what small wind lips did exist there did not result in any cracking. While skiing, we observed another party start a large loose dry slough on a steeper section. This slough moved quite fast and entrained a lot of snow, almost enough to bury a person.
