Facets on Incline Peak

Solo toured in the Incline Peak area today to check out the Jan 4 facet/crust layer. I skinned past the normal skin track and gained the north ridge in order to dig into a north facing, below treeline aspect and also avoid any exposure to avalanche terrain. HS at my location was 186cm. I found what I believe to be the Jan 4 persistent weak layer buried about a foot down. The layer was composed of approximately 13cm of facets and was lacking the crust found in other locations. I performed a compression test with a CT14, SP result @ 142cm. Surface snow was still soft in north facing trees and made for decent turns in the low angle terrain, however I observed a thin sun crust on southerly aspects on my way back to the highway.
