Snow pack observation on Chickadee Ridge

We skied the low angle terrain on the south and north side of Chickadee ridge.  The snow on the south facing aspect was more firm than on the north side.  We did not observe any signs of instability.  We did a quick pit on the south aspect and found the Jan 4 rain crust approximately 30cm down. Total snow depth was 150cm.  We got an ECT of 11. The failure was on the rain crust layer directly below the compression test although it did not propegate to the whole block.
