Warming Snow Conditions on Rubicon Peak

Conditions warmed up quickly today on Rubicon Peak.  Northerly aspects had areas of cold unconsolidated snow, along with thicker wind blown snow, and warm and wet set up snow by late morning.  As trees began dripping, snow became sticky below 8000' as conditions continued to deteriorate throughout the day.  Wind scouring exists on the upper 200-300' below the peak with some wind drifts and wind features along with areas of firmer snow.

Light NE winds were keeping the eastern slopes somewhat cooler above 8500'.  Below 8500', snow was wet and heavy but consistent.  Skiing these E aspects down to just below 8000' did not show loose wet instabilities to be active in this area during the midday.
