No buried surface hoar found at Tragedy Springs

Pic 1: I looked everywhere from Tragedy Springs to the pindrop for buried surface hoar, and couldn't find it. I tried ridgetop, mid-slope, and even in meadows. Instead, graupel was found consistently above the light crust at the bottom of the recent storm snow. No signs of instability were observed at this layer today. 

Pic 2: It felt like everyone who ever rides Tragedy Springs was out there today. No reports of any avalanches, and test slopes like this one were hit hard with no results.
