Description of Snow, Weather, and Avalanche Conditions: 

Toured up Johnson Canyon to a North facing slope above Horse Range to check out a new zone. Skiied light fluffy pow! Dug a pit on the North facing slope at 7,300' to test for the presence of buried surface hoar. Did a few compression tests on got CTN on each test - did not observe any buried surface hoar beneath the new storm snow. Skiied a SE facing slope around 1630 to get back to the car - full on survival skiing through a breakable crust to get out!
