Near surface facets at Tamarack

Took a mellow tour on Tamarack to look at the snow.  N and NE aspects still held cold snow while signs of warming were observed on E and S aspects.  Observed a small wet loose point release on fireplug as we were leaving around 1230.  Several cold clear nights have transformed the snow surface on N and NE aspects to small near surface facets.  Structure of the upper snowpack on these slopes was generally 10cm F hard near surface facets above 10cm of higher density snow (1f-4f) with 15-20cm of F hard snow underneath.  This setup in the upper snowpack will be worth monitoring if we get any precipitation in the near future.  Overall we did not observe any signs of instability but we also avoided avalanche terrain due to the abundance of early season hazards.
