State of the Snowpack for 12/12/2020 - 12/18/2020

Dates of the Week:

12/12/2020 to 12/18/2020

Persistent slab - No known avalanches - widespread whumpfs and unstable snowpit test results all week.
Wind slab - Reported avalanches (2 natural, 1 small human-triggered)

Facetted snowpack prior to the storms with a few crusts in the pack. Weakest facets near in the upper part of the snowpack prior to the storms.
This week's storm snow buried the facets (now known as the Dec 11 facets) about 10 to 16 inches in most places.

Small storm Friday night/Saturday morning with 2-4 inches of snow.
Larger storm on Sunday (afternoon and night) with 8-14 inches of snow
Small storm early Thursday morning with 3 to 6 inches of snow.
SW winds during the storms and NE winds after the storms.
