Positive Ect and PST results near Frog lake

We began our tour around 0900 @ 8500'. Air temperatures were well below freezing with clear skies and light E winds with moderate gusts. Snow was being transported from east to west off of the tops of Red Lake Peak, Elephants Back and surrounding exposed ridgelines. Small windslabs were observed on west facing features from the recent easterly winds last night and this morning. As we started on the trail there was surface hoar that had started to form and was mixed with graupel. This combination of grains on the surface was widespread and observed throughout our day near and below tree line on our way down. We preceeded out near Frog Lake and dug a pit at 8800' on a N aspect. Stepping out of our bindings, boot pen in this area was around 60cm, punching right through the new snow down to the faceted layer. There was several melt freeze crusts within this pit and all seemed to be deteriorating and breaking down.  Score- ECTP23@45cm. PST30/100 END Down 45 on 18/12/2020. This was clearly failing on the Dec.11th PWL interface. We decided to remain out of avalanche terrain after seeing the results and skied low angle terrain back to the truck. Weather remained the same throughout the day with clear skies near freezing temperatures and light E winds with moderate gusts surface snow.
