Observation
Description of Snow, Weather, and Avalanche Conditions:

We toured into Silver Peak to check out current snow conditions and monitor old weak layers in the snowpack.  The Jan 2 rain event made mostly ski supportive rain crusts below 7000' with these rain crusts becoming thinner and breakable above 7000'.  3-4 inches of settled storm snow exists above 7500' on top of these rain crusts in wind protected areas with many areas being scoured by recent winds.  Variable conditions existed on most aspects.  Snowpack tests showed similar results to other areas of the forecast region with the Dec 11 PWL slowly gaining strength over time.
