Shallow unstable snowpack near High Meadow.

Our group went to check out the High Meadow zone near Job's sister. On the way, there was very light winds down low that increased at the ridgeline but there was no transporting snow due to recent melt freeze crusts and wind packed snow on the surface. Throughout the day  there was a hazy cirrus cloud cover that eventually turned into lenticulars that grayed out the sky around 1330. Throughout the day temps remained right above freezing and felt even warmer as the cloud cover grew. We traveled across a variety of snow surfaces from sun crusts, supportable wind pack, powdery soft snow and sunny corn. Probing around, there was an average of 90-120cm of snow within this area from 7800-9400'. Before heading up we stopped down low at 8100' to dig a pit and complete an ECT and had propagation on the Dec.11th layer. Seeing this result we continued to travel in low angle terrain towards the top staying below 30 degrees. Around 9100' we stopped again and dug another pit in an safe location on a 30 degree slope. This pit profile was very similar to down below and again showed signs of unstable snow showing more failure within the Dec.11th layer about 90cm down. From here we remained in very low angle terrain and started our descent.
