Small Avalanche 2.12 morning in the Rose Area

A morning tour up the Mt Rose Shoulder led us to our point to drop into the North Trees. A small cornice had formed from revent snow and winds during the week that was easy to trigger. Our party intentionally triggered the cornice which fell on the slope below that was >30 degrees, a small wind slab avalanche was initiated, and slid down into the tree terrain below rougly 20' wide and 50' deep. The crown of the avalanche was at its largest 1'. Another signs of of instibility during the tour were breaking around the skis during the skin up in wind effected pockets.
