Snow available for wind transport on Lincoln Ridge

We toured Lincoln Ridge today to have a look at the Dec 11 weak layer that was reactive here at the old/new interface at the start of the recent large storm cycle. This layer is now buried about 4 feet deep. Today's snowpit was adjacent to the location of two previous pits from earlier this season. Today in this location we snow very limited indications of any ongoing instability near the bottom of the snowpack. The middle and upper portions of the snowpack are strong.

Of greater interest was the nearly one foot of snow along the ridgetop that remains available for wind transport/redistribution as blowing snow. Winds were still light but we were able to see the start of blowing snow occurring during gusts. As SW winds increase tonight and tomorrow we expect this snow to blow and drift into new wind slabs for tomorrow.
