Faceting surface snow at Elephant's Hump

Facet/crust combos, surface hoar, and hardpack observed at Elephant's Hump today. Sunny slopes were softening and wetting, but just barely. Surface hoar and facets were observed at the surface even late in the day on shady slopes and slopes receiving indirect sun.

Pic 1: A few inches of facets near the surface, with a thin crust in between them. On more shaded slopes, the crust was breakable enough to still provide enjoyable skiing surfaces. In some locations, the facets extended up to 8" below the surface.
