Cold wintery day on Trimmer Peak.

 A cold wintery day on Trimmer peak made it feel more like February than it has of late. We started around 6800' and there was around 2-3 inches of new snow at the trailhead that increased to a foot above 9000'. New snow was very light and low density throughout the tour that really showed no slab component to it, mostly was weak and created dry loose movement on steeper slopes. The air temperatures stayed well below freezing throughout our day keeping snow cold even with sun on it. Snow fall was intermittent at best, not amounting to much and skies finally opened up. On the climb we never felt the wind below tree line until we reached the summit and observed moderate to strong NW-N winds transporting snow to the NE-E-SE aspects. This was surprising as the clouds aloft were traveling from E to W. There was a small wind feature I stomped on that definitely cracked open and had some slab component to it. We dug a pit below the summit and got some results in our compression tests that was under a buried stiffer wind layer. There was facets below this layer that produced resistant planar results. Both of my compression tests showed the same result so we moved to the extend column test and there was no propagation scoring and ECTX. The skiing conditions were really good up high with moments of hitting the bottom but mostly powder skiing. As we lost elevation back to the truck we hit more of the bottom, we had to slow it down and pick our way back through the bottom.
