Obs from Elephants Hump

We started our tour at 900 am. We skiied an East aspect early which still held unconsolidated snow. Skies were clear throughout the day. We observed Moderate blowing snow on Freel, Jobs, Deadwood, Elephants Back but little to none in the zone we were touring in. As the day progressed we saw the snow become temperature and sun affected. Any areas in the wind seemed to hold cold snow through the day while more protected and lower terrain became sticky and wet in the afternoon with roller balls coming off our our ski tracks.  

We dug multiple pits on a NW aspect at 8700ft below the ridge. We were observing the new snow/old snow interface and the Feb 14 PWL. We had CT17 SP, CT14 BRK down 19 cm below the rain crust at the bottom of the new snow and a CT 23 below the lower crust (ice lens) at 35 cm down SP. We saw no alarming propagation results(ECTNx4, PST 65/100 end on the old facet layer.
