Description of Snow, Weather, and Avalanche Conditions:

The afternoon brought building clouds over Hungalaleti Ridge, which cooled temps a small but perceivable amount. Most aspects had just 2-3" of snowmobile and boot penetration, except more northerly slopes that had shin deep wet snow on the surface. Although there's still plenty of snow beyond Allen Camp, the route to Allen Camp from Tragedy Springs may not last long. A few snow bridges remain to cross the Bear River at Allen Camp.

Pic 1: Afternoon convective clouds. Note the minimal snowmobile penetration, and the cloud cover over Mokelumne Peak in the background. By my departure at 3pm, Hungalelti Ridge was also fully shaded by cloud cover.

Pic 2: Shin deep boot penetration on more northerly slopes.

Pics 3 and 4: An average of 100cm of snow remaining on aspects along Hungalelti Ridge facing the northern half of the compass. But along the ridge itself and on sunnier aspects, lots of rocks and large patches of dirt were exposed.
