Snowpit from Grouse Ridge

"Windboard" slab at test pit location. The slab felt hollow under skis, but was firm and supported turns. If I jumped (175#) I could break through to faceted snow below. No shooting cracks were observed. I dug a snow pit and did a compression test with CTV SP @ 47cm (!) on the November 6 rain crust (50cm). I only did one test.

Below the wind slab area (NE and directly below the crest), the snow was light and somewhat variable, with early season obsticals and some sun crust forming on more southerly aspects.
