Observations from Rubicon

We toured the N and N/E aspects of Rubicon today and encountered better than expected stability. Yesterdays storm snow felt right side up and we did not see any signs of instability such as shooting cracks, or any layers of concern in hasty pits or jumps on test slopes at or below tree line. Above tree line close to the summit wind effect was evident with blowing snow to the north and storm slab on the surface. Towards the end of our tour later in the afternoon the southerly wind increased with more snow being moved into the northerly leeward aspects. While we didn't see any signs of instability, we expect this will increase wind slab concern above and at tree line tomorrow.
