Stevens Peak - Wind slabs and weather observations

We toured up Stevens Peak to about 8600' where we stopped due to wind and blowing snow.

AM Wx: Scattered clouds, warm >32°, light  south winds

PM Wx: Overast, cool <32°, moderate west winds gusting to strong

The snowpack was temperature effected to 7800' with a crust stiffening the afternoon as temperatures dropped. Soft wind slabs were noticable on NE-E-SE aspects.

Ax: we saw a distant crown shortly after leaving the parking area. As we prepared to transition at 8600' we skinned past another recent crown about 15 to 20 cm deep and 35 m wide.
