Avalanche on Jakes Peak

Our group did three laps on North Jakes today. We experienced cracking while breaking trail and found evidence of wind loading near the summit. We chose conservative terrain away from the East face. After our last lap, we were able to look up the east face and saw evidence of two recent avalanches. 

A large, 6-8 ft crown had broken on the shoulder of the east face. The resulting avalanche was roughly 250 ft wide and ran 1,500 vertical feet. We estimate this avalanche to have run between 11am and 12pm today, March 13. 

There was a large pile of buried debris further down the east face. This avalanche looked 12-24 old was significantly larger than today's.
