Avalanche near Red Lake zone

Today we toured up the northern facing ridge south of Red Lake with alpenglow expeditions as a group of 5. As we ascended there was significant wind transport occuring with winds coming from the S- SW, loading N - NE slopes . Storm snow accumulation during tour was 1-3 inches.  Wind loading was observed on several northern aspects. All wind loaded areas were showing shooting cracks and slabs were reactive with 1-2 weighted steps on small test slopes. Using a test slope where obvious signs of wind slabs were visible and D1 Avalanche was intentionally triggered on a 32 degree slope Northern Aspect at 8800 feet elevation. Based on the test slope as well as other information gathered on the ascent we chose to not continue to the intended summit and stay within the low angle terrain below us.
