More detailed information about the snowpack: 

In this area, the Nov 18th facet layer is less developed and less reactive. Several anchors exist on most of the slopes in this area. A breakable rain crust existed on the snow surface up to 8200 ft. The two pits in this observationare from above treeline on an east aspect and below treeline on a north aspect.

Pit #1: This is on a wind-loaded, east facing slope above treeline. This area had a strong wind slab on top of the Nov. 18th facets which were less developed and thinner in this area than on northerly aspects at higher elevations. The GPS coordiantes in this observation are the location of this pit.

Pit #2: This is a below treeline snowpit. The snowpck in this area remains shallow and the Nov. 18th facets are much less developed.
