Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Unconsolidated snow on top of a firm supportable crust in most areas. The sheltererd northerly aspects had 2-4 in of soft snow on the surface while other aspects only had 1-2 in. Oven sized cornices and ski cuts on steep wind-loaded and non-wind-loaded test slopes did not result in any avalanache activity. Car size cornice pieces dropped onto the wind-loaded slopes near the ridgeline did cause avalanches. Some of these stepped down into older weaknesses and ran about 800 ft downhill. Cornices could still be broken by a skier or snowboarder and they propagated for 3-10 ft when broken.
