More detailed information about the snowpack:

One to two inches of soft snow existed above the old rain crust on the northerly aspects in this area. The crust has weakend to the point that it easily breaks apart under the weight of a person on skis on the NW -N-NE aspects. Underneath the crust a thin layer of facets still remains; however, the recent warmer weather has slowed down the faceting process. Due to this slow down, the weak layer is now less developed than it was just last week. Near the bottom of the snowpack on the northerly aspects a layer of facets that are frozen together exists (see photo). On the E aspects a more firm and stronger crust exists, and on the southerly aspects frozen melt freeze snow with a light dusting of new snow on top of it predominates.
