More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Instability that lead to shallow skier triggered storm snow slab avalanches on steep northerly aspect terrain below treeline during the early morning hours was no longer reactive by mid day. Old persistent weak layer (PWL) was probed at 188cm below the snow surface in this location today. The old PWL was 120 to 130 cm below the snow surface in this location on March 26. Strong stable mid and upper snowpack is bridging over the PWL in this area.
