Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Very little to no snow below 7,000' in this area. Above 7,500', continuous snow cover 1 to 3 feet deep exists on NW-N-NE-E aspects. Photos show continuous snow cover negating effects of anchors on future snowfall in north aspect avalanche start zones along the east ridge of Silver. Some areas of more shallow but still continuous snow cover exist on SE-S aspects above 7,500'. Supportable melt-freeze crust observed in most areas on all aspects up to tour high point of 8,300'.

Snowpit data shows significant density differences around crusts. Little to no evidence of faceting in lower density layers around the crusts. Outlying ECTP results would be difficult to replicate outside of the snowpit on a slope scale due to the strength of the crusts above the noted weak layer.
