Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Toured around the south side of Jakes Peak above Emerald Bay.  Above 8000' N and NE aspects had unsupportable crusts only becoming supportable in highly wind effected areas.  On S and SE aspects the snow was transitional and skied ok above 8000' after the sun warmed the snow surface by 11-12.  Below that the snow was becoming punchy and below 7500' I was able to push my ski pole through the snow to the ground in the shallow snowpack that only had a light freeze with the radiational cooling overnight.  No roller ball activity seen on any aspect or elevation from today.  Clouds were coming in and the temps were slightly cooling by 1pm when it started to lightly rain.
